Hubballi Flyover Tragedy: Project Coordinator Arrested in ASI’s Death Case
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: The police have arrested another individual in connection with the tragic death of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Naabiraj Dayannavar, who succumbed to injuries after an iron rod fell on him from an under-construction flyover at the Old Court Circle in Hubballi.
The incident took place on the evening of September 10, when an iron rod from the flyover struck ASI Dayannavar, who was attached to the Sub-Urban Police Station. He sustained critical head injuries and was immediately rushed to KIMS Hospital for treatment. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, Dayannavar did not respond to treatment and passed away on September 15.
According to the police, the incident was a result of negligence by the workers at the construction site, as no adequate safety measures were in place. The flyover is being built near the Old Court Circle, a busy area in the city. Following the incident, authorities took swift action by arresting 11 employees of Jandu Construction Company, which is responsible for the project. The arrested individuals include three engineers who were overseeing the work. All were presented before the court.
On September 27, 2024, police arrested Vikas Sharma, the project coordinator from Jandu Construction Company, based in Haryana. Sharma, who was in charge of the entire Hubballi Flyover Project, was also presented before the court and is facing charges related to the negligence that led to the fatal incident.
